Random Thoughts . . .

I think it's so cool that my favorite sport considers their modern era to be anytime after the 1900's. (Baseball)

But I would be less than honest if I didn't admit that my loyalties start to shift as fall approaches and the college football season is just on the horizon.

I wonder who christened the sport, "Football" when only a small percentage of the time do feet even come in contact with the ball?

How many of you have spent any amount of time deconstructing the time / multiple universe theories put forth in Marvel's "Avengers: End Game?"

And why couldn't they simply go into the past and kill Thanos before he grew to adulthood?

I wonder how long Eve stared at the fruit hanging from the forbidden tree before taking a bite? Did she just get bored in paradise and wander over to the one place she wasn't allowed to be? Did she nonchalantly plan her morning walks to draw her closer and closer to that spot? And why did Adam not directly intervene instead of becoming a willing participant?

In the 1998 Home Run Derby there were 10 participants and they hit a total of 82 home runs. Twenty one years later in the 2019 Home Run Derby there were 8 participants and they hit a total of 312 home runs.

I think in 2021 fame is the most desired currency.

And at what cost?

I have determined that the cons now officially outweigh the pros in regard to participating in social media.

As I get older I find myself longing for those sunbaked, lazy days, when all the neighborhood kids gathered outside, picked teams, and played baseball until we dropped.

I really hope there is baseball in Heaven.

And Krystals . . . (That's for you Grace)

I'm dreading the future moment when God points out the the amount of time that I have wasted in my life on things that truly never mattered.

(And yes I realize that God is a forgiving God, but the Bible is still quite clear that we will all answer for everything we have done, thought, and said in our lives. Beyond sobering . . . )

I wonder what category this blog fits in?

Anybody else remember Gumby?

And what was the name of his horse?

Am I alone in feeling sad that my daughter will probably never again experience a world without mobile phones?

Does anyone set aside time to just think anymore?

What possible reason could God have had to create hornets? And mosquitos?

(Of course, I think there are a fair amount of humans that this reasoning could also be applied to as well so what do I know)

Do you think Satan has meetings with his cohorts? And do you think he uses a whiteboard or a blackboard?

When I was a child I often wondered which dinosaur was the peacemaker of that species. It was later in life that I learned that my favorite dinosaur, Brontosaurus had a small brain which probably ruled him out as being the diplomat of the bunch. (Side note: did you know that as a rule, brain size is related to diet, and plant eaters get by with smaller brains than meat-eaters: after all, their food doesn’t try to escape!)

I never realize that the Ford Theatre was a replica of the original theater. (Americans during those days weren't interested in preserving the memory of that horrible night)

I have tried to embrace digital books but it appears I truly am a slave to my past.

I have yet to own a automobile with a screen, satellite radio, or heated seats. But I've also never owned a horse so  . . .

Membership in general is not what it used to be.

And sadly neither are friendships. (At least that has been my experience)

Thank you to the far-sighted politicians (there is a statement you don't hear everyday) who set aside land and resources to protect our National Parks. (Mostly Theodore Roosevelt but I'm feeling magnanimous today . . . )  They truly are some of America's greatest treasures.

My dream car is a 1968 Chevy Nova L78. Midnight blue with black interior. Thanks for asking . . .

When I started college in 1979 there were two computers set aside for public access. They resided in the library and you had to make an appointment for the privilege of navigating the world of DOS. (Windows 3.1 wouldn't arrive until 1985)

I purchased my first PC in December 1992. There was no internet but you could explore the brave new world that was AOL and Prodigy bulletin boards. It took seven floppy disks to load Windows 3.1 and a more than a couple of hours if my memory is correct.

Even though it currently appears that retirement will not be an option for my future, I wonder if that is not a bad thing. How many hobbies can sustain you throughout your day? (Or am I just rationalizing the reality that I will be facing?)

Finally, my daughter just got a puppy and I've been reminded again of the purest love that God has placed on this planet. (Beside Himself of course)
