Top 10 Hot Wheels (My List)

As Christmas time quickly morphs from expectation to reality, I'm reminded of some of my favorite gifts when I was a child. Hot Wheels were a big deal when I was growing up in the 60's and my brother and I spent hours racing and playing with our favorite cars. Here is a list of my Top 10 cars that I have owned:

1) The Custom Cougar (One of the Original 1968 first "16" cars) I had this car in orange and my brother's car was painted green.

2) The Ford J-Car (Also one of the Original 16) - just an awesome looking race car - I think mine was red.

3) The Custom Volkswagen (16 as well) - this car has a working sunroof and I had a green version of this car.

4) Snake - One of the two most famous drag racing cars that Hot Wheels ever released (see the picture above) - the mongoose and the snake were legends. (They even had their own drag racing track!)

5) Custom Mustang (Again, one of the 16) I had a blue Ford Mustang. Awesome car.

6) Red Baron - Who didn't want to have this villain car complete with a black iron cross painted on the helmet?

7) King Kuda - this car was part of the 1970's Hot Wheels Club and if you joined you could get one of the three chrome cars that Hot Wheels rewarded for your membership. I remember getting this silver beauty in the mail, amazed that Hot Wheels could arrive in your mailbox, just like presents under the tree!

8)  55' Chevy Nomad - Had this car in silver and yellow and covered it with the "Flower Power" decals that came with this car. Pretty sure it had a sunroof also?

9) Heavy Weight Ambulance - This was a toss-up between the Heavy Weight Fire Truck and the Ambulance but I remember this car being much faster so it wins this spot.

10) Porsche 917 Redline - At one time I either traded or won a blue version of this car and to this day cannot imagine a cooler vehicle to drive.

There you have it, my quick detour down memory lane. Hope you enjoyed it and I hope it made you remember some of the great gifts you received for Christmas as well. Merry Christmas!
